It has performed well enough in terms of heating and the controls are convenient, but the black handle has become so gummy and sticky that I am forced to throw it away. Please NOTE that the curling iron has been well cared for and no substance has come in contact with the handle that explains why it has deteriorated, becoming so sticky that is not useable. My conclusion is that the handle is made of an inferior rubbery type material (not plastic) that has failed to hold up to normal use. I do not recommend purchasing this product or any other Conair curling iron that has a similar handle. It is junk!
