Not only does it heat up very fast and very hot (I've only turned the dial up to three out of a possible ten, because it's to strong), but it makes beautiful curls that last for days. Depending on the type of look you want, they make the curlers in different sizes. This size is terrific for long hair if you want ringlets. They also make a curler with a bigger barrel for very loose curls, waves, and even to straighten, and they have even smaller barrels for tighter curls. This was a good size for me.
I've used it for quite a while and had no problems with it...it lasts very well.
