(More customer reviews)I had been using hair relaxers up until around 3 years ago because we finally discovered that relaxers were causing my allergic reactions. I started with relaxers around the age of 15, however, at the age of 16, I started having allergic reactions to "something" but my dermatologist could not determine the cause. We finally figured out that it was the relaxers when I was 30 years old. My face, and upper body broke-out with red welts and did not go away until I stopped getting the relaxers. The problem was that my hair is so course, that I need some type of straightener. My natural hair is probably as course as they come.
I finally discovered the thermal straighteners 1 year ago. I used Matrix Opti-smooth the first time and it came out okay (not super straight). The second time (last week) I used the One and Only brand and my hair is super straight. It is shiny, silky, and full of body. This makes it so easy to style my hair and takes me a lot less time in the mornings. I am amazed.
I do not have allergic reactions to the chemicals in the thermal straighteners and I am so happy that they came along.
