(More customer reviews)This hair setter is at a par for other setters. It's not any better than my 25 year old Clairol setter, except for the cord rewind feature, which I love.
My Clairol has wire clips which I don't like. I like the large plastic clips. This one doesn't come with either, it comes with these hard to open long spring clamps that are hard to use.
It's a shame because it was a nice looking setter with a cord rewinder, but too expensive anyway.

(More customer reviews)"Love the set." You just need to do a better color code on the pins. The yellow is fine. The purple is okay, the other color dark ? is so close to the purple that it's hard to pick out quickly and need to keep looking for the size. A bright yellow, Red and Purple or Green or what would stand out would be great. Could use less small(maybe only 4 and add 1 more large and 1 more medium. These are just suggestions. Like I said, I do like the set.

(More customer reviews)In an effort to stop blow drying my hair, I have been desperately searching for a method of wrapping my hair up at night so it will be work-decent in the morning. Unfortunately it is very short and rather curly so it ends up a mess by the end of the night. Had hoped these would suffice to keep it curled together and they are relatively soft so I could have slept on them. However my hair is too short and these are just too thick. I could envision them working quite well for somebody with slightly longer hair (mine falls just past my ears), but I could hardly get them into mine and then they would not stay put. Hmm. Perhaps in a few months I can try them again.

A simple search online or a look around in a beauty supply store or simply asking your hair stylist will let you know that though these rollers are called magnetic, they are not! That is just the name of the product. I have a few sets of magnetic rollers and I love them! They set my african american hair for the week as well as really lowering the damage to my hair (low heat setting on the dryer). If you're the type of person that is trying to lower their hair's exposure to heat yet still want to have a hair style, then rollersetting is the best thing.

1.) The danged clippy thingy is very difficult to snap on to the HOT, damp, roller, so it is very easy to burn fingers while trying to manipulate it.
2.) This is very frustrating, and made this reviewer want to throw roller and clippy thingy at the wall.
3.) The Sadistic designer only made ONE WAY for the You-can't-put-a-square-peg-in-a-round-hole variously sized rollers to be replaced in the unit after use. This puzzle remains unsolved by this reviewer.
4.) This is very frustrating, and made this reviewer want to throw the whole danged unit, rollers and clippy thingies included, at the wall.
5.) Even if you only use a few of the rollers on your hair, you have to take them ALL OUT of the unit - (the better to play the afore-mentioned puzzle game, my dear) to dump the unused water out of the unit prior to storage.
6.) This is very frustrating, and made this reviewer want to throw the whole danged water-filled unit, rollers and clippy thingies included, at the wall.

My research consisted of asking several people who work in the industry what they recommend and they all mentioned the Babyliss Professional. One woman told me that she has worked at several salons and they all use the Babyliss Professional 30 which helped to convince me. At first my wife thought I had spent to much on the rollers and she suggested I return them but now she wonders how she was willing to put up with such inferior products. She uses them everyday and they are easier on her hair and produce great results. Babyliss Professional - weird name - great product.

I got these with the hope that I'd shorten my morning routine of wrapping sections around a round brush and drying with the hair dryer. They heat up quickly, while I dry my hair, then I put them in (5-7 minutes) and then I eat breakfast. Right before I leave to go to work, I take them out, and Wow - I can't believe how good my hair looks. It looks better than when I come from the hairdresser. And it cuts about 5-10 minutes off of my morning routine. Ah, delicious sleep. My curls do fall out over the course of the day, but then, when I dried my hair with a brush & dryer, they fell out too. Maybe I need some product. The clips do leave weird kinks, but those seem to fall out, and the set comes with pins. I wish it also came with a bag to contain the clips, but not the end of the world. All in all, if I'd had these 15 years ago, I'm sure I'd have had a lot more dates (unless the unfortunate fellows saw me with these in my hair... then he would have fallen over laughing!). I am 100% happy. I've had them for a week, I can't imagine going back to the brush. Let me add, unlike some other rollers I read reviews for, I can't see how you'd burn a finger with these, because of the velvet coating.

CARUSO Professional Molecular Steam Hairsetter 30 Rollers & Carrying Case Creates Shine & Volume (Model: C97953) Review

(More customer reviews)I had a set of these curlers back when I was a kid of the 80s. The one I had used salt in the water. It broke a couple of years later, not for lack of quality but for my clumsiness. I kept the curlers hoping to get another steamer. But, alas, they ended up in the appliance graveyard in the back of my shelf. When I once again desired to curl my hair, I instantly thought of this system. Back then I was a novice and since I was out of practice, I fear I only got worse with using hot rollers. But this time I bought 2 sets of Conair Pro Clips to use instead of the Caruso covers. I only wish I bought 2 more sets as they were so much better than those hard covers and produced a nicer curl w/o the "curl cap dent" that I was accustomed to with the Carusos. Also, the setting of the curl can get better results. I tried to just roll the curlers, let them set while getting my makeup on, and then unroll. But that did not yield the best results. I now use a soft bonnet hair dryer over the curlers. The curl is so much nicer and it seems to stay longer. It is an extra step but it is so worth the effort. While I am still learning more about the proper rolling technique, I at least do not have any frizzy results with the combination of clips and hair dryer.
Oh, I forgot to mention this: Before rolling my hair, I run a hair dryer through my hair and lightly spray my hair with ordinary hair spray. I don't even use setting gels, foams, etc...just cheap Alberto V05 'Hard To Hold' spray. Then I brush through my hair and start rolling.
As for the curlers, you may find that 30 rollers are not enough or that you don't need any of the tiny ones, extra large ones, or any combination of any other size. Instead of buying the extra rollers at $12.00 for a set of six, consider just purchasing another Caruso set. I needed more large, medium, and small rollers but not tiny or extra large. To buy three sets at $12.00 each, I would spend $36.00 plus shipping. Why not just buy another unit at $34.00? It has free super saver shipping. You do get 30 curlers (I do use the larger and smaller ones...just not as often) and you have a back up unit or a travel unit. On that note, the foam WILL eventually wear out and you will need to replace the curler or foam part. I can't find the foam part though. So that is another reason to get extra curlers before you need them.
To keep the curler part (foam) fresher: after you remove your curler, put it back on the steamer to "fluff" back up. I roll my hair pretty tight so the foam flattens tightly. The foam lasts much longer this way!

(More customer reviews)I bought the purple hair art rollers and they came quickly, however they were poor quality and looked like they had been used before - and were recycled. I have had my own 10 year old perm rollers and these rollers I got from this company were in worse shape than mine. I had bought two packages. On all the rollers, the rubber was dark grey, dry and already cracking and the rubber was extremely thin and frail; on some of the rollers the rubber was frayed and split; one roller I tried to open the clip and the rubber part broke in half before I could even get the end clip out. These looked like recycled rollers because of the condition of the rubber clips. On the outside of some of the rollers, they were slightly brown dirty and on the inside of the rollers, the plastic was extremley brown and dirty. The quality of the holes in the rollers was not constructed very well - the plastic holes were small and most were obstructed by the part of the plastic had not been cleared during the manufacturing process.
To the company's credit ([...]), they did refund my order, I paid 4.95 each for two packages of purple rollers but said they couldn't refund shipping (5.29)--Grrr. They said they never had anyone complain about their rollers, but I did notice that they just dropped the price of the purple rollers to less than $3-hmmmm. Perhaps this was a minor incident with a small batch of rollers on their part, but I would recommend that you buy rollers from a place where you can inspect the quality of the rollers. I didn't know this before but you can get rollers from sally's beauty supply store ([...]). Fortunately there is a store near me, I ended up getting my perm rods at my local store where I could see for myself that the rubber was in great shape. Plus I got my perm rods at sally's for only a few dollars, less than $2 for a pack of 12. Oh well, live an learn - not all things are equal on the internet!

They rollers heat up very fast and do an excellent job. The ceramic material the rollers are made out of seems to reduce the amount of frizz you can sometimes get from hot rollers. I actually have two sets of these as my hair needs a lot of rollers.
For the space conscious traveler, this set is hard to beat.

I think if you have trouble holding them in maybe a professional can help show you how they work. I used to have problems holding them in but I finally figured out how to make them stay in your hair. I only give them 4 stars because after a while (usually 6 months to a year) of constant usage they began to wear. But then again they are only 3.95 overall I think they're great:0)

When I saw these awesome clips I knew they would be perfect! And they are! They are easy to open and hold as you position the roller to your head. They hold the roller on nice and tight and they are so easy to take off too.

Caruso SalonPro Molecular Steam Hairsetter Review

(More customer reviews)I was suspicious when I found this product for $30 at a beauty supply place. That seemed kind of low for 30 heated rollers. I got even more suspicious when I found out that they were "just" sponge rollers and had to be "heated" one at a time.
I gave it a try anyway, since I haven't had much luck with conventional dry hot rollers. This unit shoots hot steam through each roller, which takes only a few seconds apiece, so you heat them as you go. You can also steam-heat the clips (they call them "shields") so the hair on the roller gets heated from both sides. Then you can just let them cool off on their own, or help them along with a hair dryer.
I still had my doubts about this product since the rollers, when steamed, didn't seem very hot (compared to regular dry hot rollers). But the sponge rollers grabbed my hair well and the "shields" kept them from unwinding or falling out, which was already a big plus over other hot rollers.
To my surprise, the curls really did take. In fact, they were curlier than I had intended. It may take some practice to get the results I need, but it looks very promising.
Some of the rollers looked squashed when I took them out, because I had wound the hair around them so tightly (habit). I was afraid I had ruined them. I put them back on the steaming unit, and they returned to normal within seconds!
The curls were still there when I woke up this morning. That was a real shock. I have ultra-straight, ultra-fine hair. I have trouble getting even the best hot rollers to stay in, if I can get my hair to roll around them in the first place. The resulting "curls" are but a distant memory by the end of the day. But not these curls. I slept on them, and didn't even spray them, and they were still there the next day. I was sad that I had to wash them out (I wasn't very careful putting them in last night since I was just testing them, so I didn't have any sort of presentable hairstyle).
This unit should travel well, since the steaming unit is small, a little bigger than a memo cube. It comes with five different sizes of rollers, and there's a mail-order form where you can get more rollers in any size if you need them - they're pretty cheap.

(More customer reviews)The Caruso hairsetter works so well that my hair really grabs on to the curl. I have thick hair so some of smaller sized rollers give me too-tight curls and make my hair too puffy. My hair is a few inches below my shoulders and the jumbo sized rollers give me nice soft curls.
These rollers are quite large so if you want to add a bit of volume to short hair or soft curls for longer hair, they are the perfect size!

My only complaint is that they take up a huge amount of room in a suitcase. And, the plastic lid cracks. In fact, that's why I'm on my third set. After about a year of business trips, the lid will be cracked beyond use. So, I'm going to buy another set of these for the bathroom counter, and try another brand for the road.
