Farouk Deep Brilliance Ceramic Hairstyling Flat Iron Mini .5" Review

(More customer reviews)Several years ago I started out using a cheap drugstore flat iron for my thick wavy hair. After talking to my stylist and my friends I got a 1½" Sedu and a 1" Solia flat iron for my long hair, and then my inverted bob (Posh Spice). They're pricey but you get what you pay for. I got nice SILKY STRAIGHT hair with those brands. Now with my boy haircut (Demi Moore in Ghost) I needed a narrower flat iron. After much research I finally bought this Farouk ½" mini. It's about 10 inches long and 1½ inch at its widest point.
Pros: narrow for short hair or bangs, quick heating with display light, adjustable temperature (140º - 400º), smooth ceramic surface means no pulling or catching, swivel cord, the tip stays cool enough so I can handle it, the two sides compress for better holding if I want to hold the ends and the price.
Cons: they sell out quickly, the directions are minimal. FYI - The Sedu and Solia manuals suggest around 340 - 350° for normal hair texture, less for bleached, damaged, fine hair and above that (370°) for coarse, thick, ethnic or otherwise resistant hair.
Get a good haircut, use a deep moisturizer once a week and you'll be good to go for a great price! Highly recommended.

T3 Bespoke Labs Narrow Wet-or-Dry Iron Review

(More customer reviews)As an african-american female with very thick relaxed hair, it has been a lifelong search to find a product that would 1. tame my frizzies and 2. not damage my hair. The search finally ended with the T3 Wet-or-Dry. I use a heat protector spray, blow dry my hair (using the iron on soaking wet hair would make me nervous) till it's about 80%-85% dry, then use the T3. I honestly do not think I have ever had this many good hair days, and the condition of my hair has actually improved since I started using this. I can dry, straighten and style with one swoop of the iron. I used to have a CHI, and it didn't come close in terms of giving my hair a healthy look. I get compliments because people think I've had my hair done professionally! Also, the style lasts for 3-4 days, and even then my hair is still in good condition. I'm confident that my hair will be able to face the humidity of Georgia this summer. This thing is worth every dime, and then some. Plus, the rhinestones are a nice touch.

I guess that is what you get when buying the cheap one on line instead of buying thru the distributor! Not only that but the strength of the barrel to retain the hair in the iron is very WEAK on the other iron.

It took me a few minutes to figure out how to "work" it - it is not spring-loaded like most curling irons - but I bought it because my hairdresser uses one just like it and it truly gives me the best curls that last for days - the first day curls, the next day great waves...even the third day can still look cute with a minor touch-up if I am too busy to wash my hair. Truly, I have fine hair and the selections of heat settings allows me to find the best temp to give my hair awesome body. Buy this curling iron!

The T3 Mane Tamer Unruly Hair Straighter is a time saver and a great investment! I am a black female with EXTREMELY coarse, thick and wavy hair. I do not have any chemicals in my hair. I used this flat iron on my towel dried hair and it turned out great. I am so glad I did not have to blow dry it prior to using the T3 Mane Tamer flat iron. My hair was straight, soft, and manageable. The best result was that my hair had a beautiful shine. Furthermore, my hair remained straight for the duration of the week. I am so glad that I finally found a flat iron that can truly straighten my unruly hair without having to apply excess heat that can lead to thermal damage. T3 SinglePass(TM) Twirl 1.25" Curling Iron Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this iron because I have a T3 blow dryer that I love and can't live without. I was hoping the curling iron would be just as awesome, but I found that it didn't heat up very fast, my Hot Tools irons get hotter and although I'm sure the ceramic barrel is great for my hair, it just wasn't hot enough to make long lasting curls. I have thick, curly hair and typically blow dry my hair with a paddle brush, flat iron it and then use a curling iron to really smooth my hair out and give the ends a nice curl that last at least 24 hrs. This iron wouldn't be able to deliver lasting curls. I don't think it is worth $98, almost seemed like a starter tool....when I was expecting something that may be good enough for professional use.

(More customer reviews)First of all, it's a marcel iron, so you have to know how to use it. It can be a bit frustrating and irritating when you first handle it. I am a hairdresser, so I learned to use it in school, and I'll NEVER go back to the spring irons. I use this to do my hair once every 3-4 days. After the first day, I use my finger and twist my hair back around to re-create the curl. Always curl away from your face. I sell the heck out of these things at my salon. I even have clients who want them so bad that they'll learn to use the marcel as opposed to the spring action. (they are available in spring action)I LOVE LOVE LOVE this curling iron and could not go a day without it.

T3 Tourmaline 1" Twirl Marcel Curling Iron # 83110M Review

(More customer reviews)I've been using marcel curling irons for a long time, so the style of the iron was not new to me. In the past, I've always used the Hot Tools brand (the gold colored irons). I was very happy with them. I typically use a 1-1/4" barrel but recently have been using the 1" for more curl definition.
I was planning to get a spare 1" iron to leave at my mom's house, so that would be one less item I would have to pack when visiting her. The T3 Tourmaline came up during my search. I decided to give it a shot since it was a good bit cheaper. I just figured it wouldn't be as nice and I would take this one to my mom's and continue using my Hot Tools. WRONG!!! I immediately loved the T3. It didn't take long for me to decide to use the T3 at my house and take the Hot Tools one to my mom's house.
It has a plastic tip on the end (which the Hot Tools does not), so that may help people who are new to the marcel irons. I never burn myself by grabbing the end. I usually burned the inside of my arm from holding my hair up and then getting careless and touching my arm when I was bringing the iron up to my hair. I now wear a sock on my arm (with the toes cut out), and that has saved my arm. I haven't touched it at all, though, when using the T3.
My curls are more defined with the T3 than the Hot Tools and they stay in longer. I'm not sure why this happens, but it does. I will be buying this brand in the future whenever I need replacements or decide to try another size. Oh, also, if you search online, you will find this iron for a MUCH higher price at most sites. I'm surprised it is priced so low on here in comparison to other sites. It came in a very nice box, so I'm assuming it's the "real deal". I will definitely be telling people about this iron!
UPDATE 11/15/10 ---
I loved my T3 Tourmaline marcel iron so much that I ended up replacing my 1-1/4 inch Hot Tools iron with one. I'm still amazed at how much better it curls. I haven't had any problems at all with the iron yet, so I plan to buy this brand only in the future (unless any odd issues come up). I will definitely tell anybody who mentions they are searching for a new iron about how much I love these.
