Turbo Power FORMA TOURMALINE IONIC WET 2 DRY FLAT IRON 1" #346 Review

I received a $99 FHI for Christmas. It didn't work well, so I bought a CHI ($150) and Rusk ($100) for a comparison. The CHI won, but I got nervous about the quality over the long term after reading several reviews (most said great iron, but breaks in less than a year!--- ouch!) So, I went to a nearby high-end salon that sells the Forma. WOW. There is an amazing difference between the Forma and the others. Effortless straightening, heats up instantly, and it doesn't snag my hair at all. Great shine, too!

CHI Ceramic Volumizing Iron 3/4" Wide 1 ea Review

These are perfect for what I needed. I've had my hair cut due to breakage and I needed to flat iron and curl at the same time. This does the trick. It gives just the right amount of straightening with the ability to curl the ends at the same time. I can do my hair quickly and the shine from the flat ironing is nice.

I've had this for about 2 weeks. It works wonders on my thick/curly/frizzy hair. The only thing that bothered me is that on the box it came in it says there is lead in the cord.

Farouk CHI Auto-Digital Advanced Wet to Dry Ceramic Ionic Flat Iron 1-1/4" with Free Stand and Thermal Pouch Review

Farouk CHI Auto-Digital Advanced Wet to Dry Ceramic Ionic Flat Iron 1-1/4 with Free Stand and Thermal Pouch
Average Reviews:

I have been using Chi irons for years now. This my second wet to dry iron and I love it. I would never go back to a plain Chi dry iron.
Chi irons are superior to all other irons because of their temperature level and evenness. I have confirmed this with a laser heat gauge comparing Chi's to other brands. The temp is nearly identical to the digital display on the front. This is WHY you buy a Chi. It is for serious thick hair-straightening.
The trick is that you really need to know how to use the Wet-Dry iron. It is not intuitive, nor can you simply use on wet or damp hair with the same old products. There are some key points you need to know.
Wet to Dry Key Points:
Key Benefit: The number one benefit of the wet-dry iron is resistance to humidity. When I started using this iron, I stopped getting chemical and thermal straighten at the salon. I live in Fla and I have zero curl, fizz or puffiness when humidity is at max. I only get this benefit with the wet-dry.
Steam: Yes you are steaming your hair. Yes it is safe. No, you shouldn't worry that you are hurting your hair. You are steaming out the moisture and product not your hair. The temp on your hair shaft is the same as a dry iron. The key is NEVER to leave the heat on too long. See below.
Water Content: Damp almost dry hair works the best for many reasons. It is faster, and the outcome is virtually the same as on wet hair. Some professionals tell you NOT to use this product on true wet hair. I have used on wet hair, but it takes forever, takes more skill and as I mentioned there is no benefit in the straightness category. Note however that the more water you steam with, the more humidity resistance you will enjoy. You'll figure out the correct wetness for your needs. Start out with dryer hair and gradually work damper with each attempt.
Product: I am told by a top professional that silicone based thermal products are the only ones to use with a wet-dry iron. I have had that experience first hand. The regular old thermal protectors leave my hair feeling crunchy. The nicer silkier products are hardly noticeable. YES-use product before you blow dry and again before you iron. No need to use on each section. Just a small drop worked into your hair. I like a cream before I dry and the oil before I iron. Chi makes great stuff for this.
Dryer: There are a couple of approaches depending on your time commitment. 1) you can simply get all the water out with basic simple blow drying. As long as your hair is damp to the touch this method will produce pin straight hair once you iron. or 2) you can straighten your hair with a round brush and blow dry in sections. Again as long as you leave each section damp to the touch the iron will work great. I prefer method 2 for silkier hair. Remember leave in enough wetness. Don't blow nearly dry. If top sections get dryer as you work, a little drop of water does the trick.
Small batches: Just a reminder for those of you that may not know this. The trick is to start at the nape of your neck and work forwards. Divide your head in half down center and then pin all up except what you are working with. Iron in small sections about a 3rd the width of your iron's length. This produces the straightest outcome. Use a comb to catch the hot section. You will burn your hands.
Steam: You should produce steam, that is how you know there is still water on the shaft. Do NOT leave the iron in one place EVER. Again NEVER EVER hold the iron in one spot. Catch your hair close to the head and iron till ONE INCH before the ends. You may have to go over a section again but that is the idea. Once you have completed that section you can then gather the entire section in the iron, and iron to the ends of the shaft. This protects your ends, THE most vulnerable part. (this is the same with a dry iron BTW)

Farouk CHI Digital Microchip Turbo Ceramic Hairstyling Iron with GFI Plug Review

I must say that after receiving this flat iron I went to use it and was loving it till I looked at the digital thermostat. As I was flat ironing my hair the temperature would decrease, so I thought there was something wrong with my iron. No where did I ever read that this iron would do that. So I thought I was going to have to return it till I went to a friends house who happens to have the same iron. She has short hair and it didn't do that to her, I happened to have long hair and hers did the same thing. Long story short I then realized that this iron just decreases in heat if you are running it through long hair... I still love it though! Just thought you might like to know this info if you have long hair...

I love my new CHI. The adjustable heat is wonderful. My hair is damaged and being able to turn down the heat as needed is great. Also love the auto off feature, no more worrying when I leave the house if I left my straightner on.

Farouk Biosilk BST1001 1" Ergonomic Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron Review

Farouk Biosilk BST1001 1 Ergonomic Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron

I have wavy hair... not super curly or thick, but not straight either, so I don't have a difficult time finding straightening irons that work, but I wanted one that would leave my hair shiny and smooth, and do it quickly, so I started looking at irons that were a bit more expensive than my usual 25 dollar range. I came across a review for this on another site and decided to try it. It straightens my hair quickly, and does leave it very shiny and smooth. The only reason I didn't give it a five was that it claims that it locks out humidity, and for the most part it does, but when humidity here is bad and I walk for a 10-15 minutes, I find my hair not as straight and as smooth as when I left. Overall I would recommend this product.

CHI 1" Original Ceramic Style Flat Iron by Farouk Review

I've been using a Chi iron for 5 years now and I must admit that they get the job done. My problem is that I live in Florida and the weather... well it's not the best weather for straight hair, especially if you're naturally curly. I lost my Chi iron a couple of months ago (the one I've had for years) so I decided to get the same one. We all know they are super expensive, so when I saw the cheap prices of $65 and so on I decided to buy it here. I got it within a couple of days from the day of purchase and it worked wonders... the first two months. I was straightening my hair for a date with my boyfriend when all of a sudden it TURNED OFF!! I figured it had over heated or something so I let it cool down. Nothing. My iron hasn't worked ever since and I have it sitting in my room, completely new, and useless!! I tried to contact the seller but he/she couldn't do anything about it. My recommendation: Make sure it has warranty!!! :P

This product works very well for protecting the hair against heat styling products like blow dryers, curling irons and hotrollers. If you are using a flat iron it would be better to use the STRAIGHT GAURD and Silk Infusion for total heat protection! Some products out there say they protect but only give a buffer for lower heat settings. The CHI line was specifically made for HIGH HEAT settings of the flat iron.
