I originally bought this dryer for my mother who was using an ancient hair dryer that barely blew air. I decided that I needed to test it out first. Well, I loved it so much that I kept it for myself. It cut my drying time in half. I love how even the hottest air from the dryer seems cool compared to my old hair dryer. Also, I decided to get this for my best friend for Christmas. She has long, thick hair. She emailed me after two days of use and said (rather melodramatically) that the hair dryer had changed her life! She said that it cut her blowing time in half. She has mentioned it two other times since Christmas so she is very impressed and thrilled with the product. The only negative is that it is very heavy compared to my previous dryer. It took me a couple weeks to get used to it but now my arm doesn't remember the difference. I bought another one for my mother who likes it but said that it was drying her hair so quickly that she has to use the diffuser attachment so she has time to strategically style her hair with a brush before it is dry. We all highly recommend this product. Great value for the money.

Conair MiniPro Ceramic Straightener Review

I ordered this product from Amazon and just got it this week. I absolutely love it and it's exactly what I was looking for.
It heats up very quickly, less than the promised 30 seconds. The size is perfect for travel and fits in a purse. The pouch that it comes with fits not only the flat iron but the cord as well, although it takes a little positioning for that. As opposed to the other mini-flat irons, there's no awkward glove to prevent burning; there are round grips on either side that provide comfortable grip and control.
I bought it so that I could take it in my carry-on for my trip and I'm sure it will do perfectly. I also have really tight curls around my hairline and the regular sized iron can't get them really well but this one is absolutely perfect.
I only have 2 issues with it that prevented me from giving it well-deserved 5 stars. One is that I would have preferred some kind of a control over how hot I want it to get. The second is that there is very little plastic around the plates and because of the size, it's very easy to put the flat iron too close to your scalp which does hurt just a bit. But with a little practice, it's really easy to figure out what works best.
Overall, I greatly recommend this product.

Farouk CHI Turbo Regular Ceramic Flat Iron Hair Straightener Review

I was suspect of the need for "ceramic ions" and "far infrared technology", but this iron was highly recommended by salon personnel, so I decided to dish out the money and try it. You don't need to believe the hype to realize that this is a top quality product. This was a case of "you get what you pay for"! It is lightweight and ergonomic, heats up almost immediately, has a slider bar for varying heat from 176-356F (80-180C), and velvety felt that protects you from burns (also allows me to get closer to my ears and scalp without getting burned). The latter feature is worth the money to me alone, and the the ceramic feels much gentler to my hair (I have baby fine hair very prone to breakage). Two other things to keep in mind when choosing a straightener:
1) size matters - smaller size is better - it's more maneuverable, and doing smaller sections at a time will produce better results. for superfine hair, I recommend the 0.7" (mistakenly advertised as 0.07")
2) not all ceramic is created equal - there are solid ceramic plates or plates COATED with ceramic that are cheaper. the ceramic layer on the coated plates can peel off and is supposedly damaging to your hair (not to mention your product is ruined).
so yes, this iron is more expensive, but hopefully it will last for years of top-notch straightening.
